And I'm Jobless

Today is my last day of work.  And I thought I was going to grow old with my company.  I'm a little of a sentimental person (I don't know what I mean either).  The thing is, I get easily attached to things and stick to them.  Unless of course it's necessary and there's a deep reason behind to leave.  So what are the things I'm going to miss with my work?  Let me see:

Foremost, I'm going to miss riding my motorcycle to work.  For more or less 11 years it was my daily routine.  I would definitely be reminiscing all the adventures and travels we had, the good and not so good times.  I used 3 motorcycles during my stay, the longest would be my very own Honda XR200, which generally speaking had never let me down.  And with it, using my "Caltex StarCard" whenever I needed to gas up (though the fuel allocation was used in work-related transactions still a great help).  Also the maintenance allowance given by the company (though recently became complicated because of some tax issues and policy revisions)... hehehe.

I would also miss my office in Calinan.  Though I'm alone, there were advantages: I can work faster since I got no distractions.  I can easily plan out things and execute.  I learned to evaluate and handle different situations.  And I was exposed more in the operations and to dealing with different personalities around.  Learned a lot... Aside from the free lunch in the canteen (part of the privileges of being an area auditor), I would miss a lot from there... friends, companions, the pineapple fields, the rough roads and the auditees, as well.

I'll miss our main office, our company, who had been very generous to their employees.  The 13th month, vacation and sick leave conversions, bonuses, and good salary pay, had helped me provide for my family's needs through the years.  Not to mention, the activities it gives to their employees (sportsfest, Christmas party and other enriching programs for development and enhancement of camaraderie).  I'm more than grateful to it.  My department and co-employees (previous and new ones), who mostly were my mentors... there were those who taught me how things were done, and there were those who showed me how not to do things.  Let just say, it started well and gladly it ended well... it was good while it lasted.

Can't deny, I'm going to miss my job, but good opportunity knocks only once in life.  And besides, I have my whole family with me in this journey, a new chapter in our lives...and the Lord's grace have been showering us.  In life, we just need to have faith, and trust in His plans for us.  Yahweh bless.

Whew, It's Finally Over

It's my son's birthday today and at the same time our Christmas party.  Good thing our company declared it a half day, so I didn't need to apply for leave to attend my son's special day.  I got to divert my anxiousness (couldn't help think about our dance presentation) in blowing balloons and setting up the area for my son's party.  And before we knew it, everything was set and ready.

Even if I wanted to, I told my son, that I had to attend our Christmas party because daddy has an important part.  I knew he understood when he said okay.  And with all his cousins, friends and the rest of the family... I knew, everything will be fine when I leave.  Hey, sometimes things just happen.

As expected, I came late to the party (not worried though, since I was permitted for a valid reason).  I was just really there because of my part to the presentation of our group.  And as the time came for us to be in the limelight, I just can't figure out how I was able to walk with all the butterflies in my stomach... but guess what, though I may not have moved smoothly as a dancer, I did the routine correctly.  Dancing with modern music in front of an audience is not really my forte.  But I think for now, I get to live another day.  It was such a relief that it was finally over.

The whole group was so happy that we successfully finished the dance, and so with the other groups.  The owners and their family seemed to enjoy all the performances and the active participation of all their employees, that besides the raffle prices, they decided to give everyone an additional cash gift.

I thank the Lord for all the blessings received by my family.  Most of all, for my son's birthday, for occasions like this always reminds me that life is good...  that I'm truly lucky to my family in my life.  And I will forever thank Him for every moment I spend with them.  To Yahweh be the glory always.

A Decade Of Working

I would like to thank our Lord for giving me a work that helped sustain and provide the needs of my family for the passed 10 whole years.  I'm so glad that I stayed this long, and I know it wouldn't be possible without His guidance.  It seems like yesterday when I prayed and asked Him for any work, since I was about to have a child back then and I was needing all the help that I can get.  I told Him that I'll take the job even if I start below minimum.  But He gave me more than what I asked for.

One for all and all for one...

I started at a decent rate, enough to accommodate the needs of a starting family.  Then 6 months after, I got my first increase along with my regularization at work.  And then again, I thank the Lord for He touched the hearts of the people around me and everything just fell into place.  I got to travel out of town and go to a known resort (our company owns) during our work engagements.  With that, I would like to thank my previous office mates and our first department head.

When we had our reorganization due to the major movements and changes in the executives of the company, we also had a new head along with new colleagues.  Even though our head was tough to be with back then (LOL), I was promoted during his time.  And that wouldn't be possible without the recommendation from our previous team leader (which by the way, is already holding an executive position in the company as an assistant vice president now).  I was transferred from pre-audit to do post-audit works, and new staffs were hired.  I learned a lot of stuffs and acquired skills due to that experience.  Since I was already assisting in audit engagements even when I was still in pre-audit, it was easy for me to adapt to my new assignment.  It was really a blessing, just in time, since I had my second born and it really was a great help for my family.  My gratitude to everyone who made it possible.

Then years after, another reorganization was made.  Again, we had a new head, and a lot of friends and colleagues were either transferred to our affiliates or to other departments.  Challenging years, I may say, there were a lot of reassignments and changes made which affected our group.  There were just some personalities you can easily get along with and there were the exceptions.  I was just glad that our Lord gave me my family where I can always get my strength from especially during those times.  More, the Lord was truly good to me, I was transferred again to pre-audit in one of our affiliates where my friends were and where I can work to my full capacity again.

Now, with change being constant with the top management, we had a new department head now and along with newly hired officemates.  Though they are all younger than me (am I getting that old already?... Nah!!! hahaha), I got high hopes with these guys.  I know they'll do better in our department.  Me, well, I just thank the Lord more and more each day.   Above the 13th month, leave conversions, bonuses, salary increase and monetary blessings I receive, I thank Him for the good health, peace of mind, friendship, and family.

Thank you for the 10 years, my Lord.  To Yours be all the praises and glory, forever and ever...

Nine Long Years Working

I guess I just want to congratulate myself for working and sticking to my job as an auditor in a private company here in Davao.  For the past years, I had lots of ups and downs in my work... had been under 3 department heads... encountered different personalities (some were easy to get along with and some were just difficult and  hard to comprehend)... met people whom you just can't get along with and made my stay a lot more challenging than before (LOL)... but hey, the good thing was I also found good acquaintances and the nicest of friends that back you up and give you these crazy ideas and later tell you, "forget what I said man, not worth doing"... hehe, I guess everyone just wants to stay long enough in their jobs.

I've learned a lot in my work...
... people with less or no proper education doesn't mean they are not capable of understanding... In fact sometimes its easier to explain to them and let them understand things than those we think are knowledgeable ones.
... there are just those lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time... who are given the opportunity to work for what they are passionate about... good pay... with the right companions... and almost perfect company.
... politics isn't always only in the government...
... some people love to talk about somebody else and find it comforting to find someone in the hot seat... they'll do everything and anything as long as someone is being talked about.
... you just can't trust someone who talks about someone else and do everything just to get a seat... they can make flames by adding fuel to a spark... and they would even kiss their boss' feet (it should had been a**... hehe) if they are asked to do so.
... people in position almost always win... even people you thought should help you tends to lean towards them and amazingly can swallow and twist their tongues when in front of them.
So, what keeps me going in my job... it's my family.  Whenever I feel tired or sick of my work, I think about them... a lot... and what I feel and think doesn't really matter anymore.  What matters is  that I give them a good life and I get to spend quality time with them.  They are the most special ones in my life, and their welfare is my utmost concern.

I just frequently pray to Yahweh... first, to praise and thank Him for having a job that supports my family (just thinking of the people who don't have any)... to ask Him to protect me and the people I encounter along the way while driving to work... to give me the needed strength in facing the obstacles along my way... to give me enough courage and wisdom to deal with difficult people... and that I may develop this keen judgment  to keep the righteous things I've learned... and forget the wrong deeds I've seen and experienced, so I may not do the same to others.  Yahweh bless.
