Proud Parents

When we got here in US, we knew that school would be a big challenge for our kids. They entered school at almost the end of school year which barely gave them enough time to adjust. This was why when we transferred here in Houston, we didn't expect too much from them.  And yet they did well... 

My son was enrolled in a magnet school and passed the qualifying exam for his grade level.  When we got here, he still had a hard time in writing and reading words but he learned fast and now he's doing pretty well in school and more, having excellent marks almost all the time.  But what we admired most of him, is that he easily adapted himself in school, as if nothing has changed.  He easily got along well with his classmates and teachers... and had no problems in going to school, very independent indeed.

Our daughter also had very good marks in her card that she was recommended and eventually got transferred to their school's magnet program and also, became a candidate in joining an inter-school competition.  And although I'm the one who gets intimidated with her subjects (lessons I only encountered in high school and college... engineering, chemistry, advance math... they even have robotics), I always believe that she can handle these.  She never fails to amaze me when it comes to her studies... very reliable ate indeed.

We know that things will not be easy for us here in the US... even for our kids.  Everything is new and I can say, it's not our comfort zone.  That's why we are so proud that the kids are doing well with their studies and even excelling in some subjects.  We are so blessed to have them as our children... we will always thank the Lord for them... and cherish them, for as long as we live.  Yahweh bless.

Bless His Artistic Hands

My son has always been an avid viewer of fictional, computer games and cartoon characters like Barney, Ben 10 Alien Force, dragons, Plants vs Zombies and Angry Birds.  He would constantly request me to draw him some of it whenever I'm home after work.  But there are just busy times that I couldn't do it for him.  So during those days, he would settle with watching videos or playing computer games instead.

Until, they had watercolor in school.  He would show us his paintings (out of his imagination) and he's good at it.  Now, he's no longer asking me to draw, he just asks us to cut his drawings.  His work is really promising.  He has good brush strokes and the images he made were clear and recognizable.  He definitely has a talent with it, with just a little support and harnessing, I'm sure he will make wonderful drawings or paintings someday.

While doing his masterpieces...

A known painter, architect, or maybe a cartoonist in Pixar or Walt Disney?  Too soon to tell... but for now, we are just enjoying these simple things that make us proud as his parents.  May Yahweh continue to bless and guide him with his talents.

Never Stop Making Us Proud

Our daughter finished her school year being on the top of her class.  She had been consistent with this ever since she entered school.  We are just proud of all her achievements and talents she developed along the way.  She performed her declamation nicely and with confidence.  She danced well in their presentation.  And with all pride, she received all her ribbons and medal.

Keep up the good work, "anak".  And do what you do best, we will always be here to support you.  Congratulations to the well deserved honors, and may you continue to do well in your studies.  It maybe a worn-out statement but it is for a fact that learning's one thing that can't be taken away from you and would definitely make a difference in your life.  Again, your mom and I are very proud of you, our Princess.  And we thank Yahweh for everything you had achieved and for everything that you will achieve.  To Him be the glory.

Stage Confidence

Many of us are not comfortable speaking in front of an audience or a group of people... and I'm not an exception.  There might be a lot of reasons but for me, I just can't explain it.  I was once a best man of a friend in his wedding, and I fumbled with some of my words and I tend to repeat what I said... I just thank God everything went out fine and that I was able to deliver my message to the couple and raised the glass of wine and finally ended my part with "cheers" (lol).

And so, me and my wife were just so proud of our daughter for developing her confidence in speaking onstage.  She was able to do her part in reading the "Responsorial Psalm" of the mass with no problem at all.  I'm just thankful to her school, which played an important role in developing her confidence  to speak in front of an audience, since they always give all of their students a part in every school presentation whenever there's a school activity or an important event.  Whether it may be dancing, singing and simply  giving a role for an act, it'll greatly help a child not only in building up her confidence in performing in front but also improves her interaction and relationship with other people.

But above all... I thank Yahweh for all the blessings received and for all these great traits He has given... for  I know that everything is from Him and we only get what He provides.  Yahweh bless.

Keep It Up, Girl... We're Proud of You

We are blessed with smart children, our daughter just finished grade 2 with a silver medal and ribbons of recognition.  She wasn't that studious, I seldom see her reading her books... more of seeing her watching cartoons on TV or playing with her friends.  She just opens her books and asks for our help during her long exams.  So I'm quite amazed she managed to land top 2 of her class.  However, what I observed about her is that she's a fast learner and she catch up with her lessons easily.  Even back then, I would sometimes reprimand her thinking she wasn't listening (because she does a lot of things while studying and makes you think her focus was not in what you're teaching her).  But if you ask her, you'll be surprised that she knows the answer.
