My wife and I just watch “the tourist” of Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp. Well, my only comment is, JD still have his “Jack Sparrow” antics. Like when he was asked to show his teeth during an interrogation. Hahaha… I suddenly felt I was in a different movie. My wife commented (which I agreed, second comment… lol), that there should be justice in “Frank” (JD’s role). It is just he was overshadowed by Angelina’s character “Elise”. They both are the main star of this movie, right? If only the movie had shown that Elise fell in-love with Frank (or if there is, emphasized some more), instead of just showing him being used and later on, pitied upon, then there would be strength in JP’s character. Happy New Year and "Kiong Hee Huat Tsai"
Advance Happy New Year to our Filipino-Chinese brothers… and to all Chinese in the world. “Kung Hei Fat Choi!!!”… For all these years I thought I was greeting someone a “Happy New Year” in Chinese. But if you greet them that don’t worry, it’s not wrong. We just often mistaken it as “Happy New Year”, but “Kung Hei Fat Choi!” is Cantonese for greeting, “Congratulations and be prosperous! Or Congratulations and wishing you prosperity”. However, considering that majority of the Chinese Filipinos speaks Hokkien, I suggest that we say the greeting in Hokkien, which is "Kiong Hee Huat Tsai" which means just the same. Why??? Kasi daw para kang nagbibisaya sa Tagalog. Just for information, in Mandarin it is “Gong Xi Fa Cai”.

Tips and basics about the Honda XR 200 motorcycle
Ø Read the Honda XR200 manual.
Ø The XR seat is about 851 mm (33.5 inches) high (so how long are your legs?). You might consider this, an XR is pretty heavy. But hey, if you’re a risk taker… I knew many.
Ø The XR has an ignition switch in the right of its handle bar to put it to start (should I still tell you to turn it on using its key?), being a 200, it does not have a kick starter. So it depends a lot on its battery. But don’t worry, if incase your battery is weak and your XR won’t start, grip your clutch, set your XR to 2nd gear, ask someone to give you a push, then apply some gas as you loosen your grip on your clutch. If you’re not confident doing this, ask someone you trust. Though I don’t recommend this but hey it’ll come handy.
Ø Based on the manual, the XR’s tank can contain 9 liters of gasoline (estimated 7 liters before you reached the tank’s reserve). I calculate my consumption as to 30 kilometers per liter to be safe (however, it is estimated to be 35-38 km/L), so it would be alarming if I already reached near the 270 kilometers mark in my odometer counter after a full tank.
Ø Gasoline and battery is good, in fact, it just had its tune up, but it won’t start… you might accidentally switched the “engine stop”. Just switch it on.
Ø The XR is hard to start especially if not used for a while, the trick is the switching your choke on for a head start. Just don’t forget to turn it off. The choke lever is located underneath your tank.
Ø You’re riding your XR and suddenly it stops and you’re sure you have gasoline, before you call your mechanic (which I did), you might want to check if your gasoline tank valve is off… turn it on or put it in reserve (in case you just thought you had a fill).
Ø If it still won’t start, you might want to check your spark plug. You have tools in your tool case at the rear part of your XR. You can use it to remove your spark plug. Clean it. If it still won’t start (hey you did everything you can), you can now call your mechanic for help (do I have to tell you to have a cell phone and save your mechanic’s number in your contacts? Haha…)
Ø This happened to me, someone took/stole my spark plug cap (ganun na siguro kahirap ang buhay). Don’t worry; just connect the black wire directly to your spark plug and your good to go. But buy a replacement for your spark plug cap. It is there for a reason.

Ø Through surfing the net and own experience, you’ll find this informative: After 500kms, you can run 80kph. At 850kms, you can run at 100kph so your engine won’t be sluggish. Tune-up is every 3000kms (from brand new up to 2-years old XR), just keep changing the oil every 1000-1500kms. This frequent change oil will make your engine run smoothly, snappier and have a longer life (based on experience, the longer the distance you travel every day, the earlier you must change your oil). Use a liter of 20w-50 or 20w-40 of 4-stroke oil (any brand will do).
Ø Keep your chain oiled or greased. It might look dirty but it would surely save you money.
Ø For tire pressure, it really depends on the road you travel and preference. For me, I usually have this: front tire (25-28 psi), rear tire (30-35 psi).

Hello my dear readers and fellow bloggers… as I mentioned, I want my blogs to be informative and somewhat in relation to what I had experienced and what I’m passionate about. And so, I begin my informative blogs…
I had been a cadet in a prestigious academy here in the Philippines. I’m with the class of 1999. The cadet life was not easy… being in a military academy, what do you expect? The first year was physically strenuous, exhausting and “rotting like hell”. The second year, we’ll our body already adapted to pressure, however, the academics… whew… was really tough. And then the third year… well for me, the pressure here was in your leadership… how you handle your underclass and being a role model to them (as they look up to you); and how you contribute in helping your first class handle the corps (as they expect you to do well as their successor). The fourth year… well I haven’t reached that part… why? It’s a long story. But hey, did I regret entering the academy and had I wasted 2 ½ years of my college life? Absolutely no… I learned a lot from my experience there and helped me in many ways… it’s truly an honor. Then, did I regret going out of the academy?... I met my lovely wife, Ellinor, and I’ve got 2 beautiful kids, Rael and Justin… and I’m living my life to the fullest… what do you think? No regret, what’s done is done. God has a purpose for everything… and everything is all for HIS Glory.

If accepted as a cadet in the Academy, you will become a full government scholar. As a cadet, you will also receive a monthly pay and various allowances to cover the cost of your expenses essential to your training.
You will be accepted as a cadet or plebe during a “reception” in the sacred Borromeo field of PMA on April 1. (Just an advice, it’s a military academy; a reception might mean differently, just expect for the worst. It’s April Fool’s Day after all)
Foreign Candidates
Non- Filipino candidates may be allowed to submit their applications and be selected as cadets to the Philippine Military Academy provided they satisfy the same basic requirements for Filipino cadets. The president of the Philippines is authorized to grant one foreign cadet per class for each foreign country maintaining diplomatic relations with the Republic of the Philippines. The following are the conditions for admission of a foreign cadet:
Ø Their pay and allowances, per diems, and traveling expenses shall be borne by their country.
Ø They will be subject to the same rules and regulations governing attendance, discipline, resignation, discharge, and graduation as Filipino cadets.
Ø Foreign cadets will not be entitled to appointment to any office or position in the Armed Forces of the Philippines by reason of graduation from the Philippine Military Academy.
Ø They will not take the oath of office upon admission and execute the engagement for service.
Ø Foreign cadets usually take their own oath of office before the ambassador of their respective governments.
Ø Foreign cadets shall take the PMA Entrance Examinations in their respective countries which shall be administered by the Defense and Armed Forces Attaches (DAFA) of the Philippines.

PNPA needs able, responsible and well-motivated youths who have the aptitude for service to meet the varied and challenging duties of a public safety service officer.

8. ONE-MONTH ORIENTATION TRAINING. The Summer Orientation Training is a one-month indoctrination course where probationary midshipmen are quartered at the PMMA compound during the entire duration of the period. The “probies” are isolated from their families and friends and prohibited from entertaining visitors.
A hectic schedule consisting of military training, refresher course in Mathematics, English and introductory lectures in Navigation or Marine Engineering makes up the day of every “proby”.
Applicants who qualified for the One-month Orientation Training must report to the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy on the first day of May.

- Male or female, physically fit, natural born Filipino citizen/foreigner with study permit;
- Single and never been married;
- At least 16 but not more than 22 years old by June next year;
- Height of at least 160 cm. (5 ft. 3 in.) weighs 55 kgs. (120 lbs.) stripped for male and 155 cm. (5 ft. 1 in.) weighs 50 kgs. (110 lbs.) stripped for female;
- Free from being accused/convicted of any crime against the law and state;
- At least a high school graduate qualified to enroll in a four-year course or graduating from high school on April next year;
- At least earned average academic performance and preferably has taken Trigonometry in High School;
- Applicants must have never been enrolled at PMMA.
GROUNDS FOR MEDICAL DISQUALIFICATION
MEDICAL :
FOR MALE APPLICANTS:
- Undescended testicles
- Absence of one or both testicles
- Suspicious enlargement of testis or epididymis
- Varicocoele
- Uncircumcised (must be circumcised before medical exam)
- Height less than 5 ft & 3 inches
FOR FEMALE APPLICANTS:
- History of childbirth/lactation
- Pregnancy
- Irregular menstrual cycle including menorrhagia
- Dysmenorrhea,incapacitating to a degree which necessitates recurrent absences
- Ovarian cyst, persistent and considered clinically significant
- New growth of the external and internal gentalia, e. g. myoma of the uterus
- Breastmass
- Endomentriosis unless surgically eradicated or controlled
- Cervicitis, acute or chronic
- Generalized enlargement of the uterus due to any cause
- Cervical polyps
- Height: Less than 5 ft & 1 inches
FOR MALE AND FEMALE APPLICANTS:
- Lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis (thoracic & lumbar) regardless of angle
- Bowlegged/knock kneed
- Pes Planus (flat footed)
- Arthritis, acute or subacute
- Underweight or overweight. Applicants must have the ideal body weight one week prior to start of probationary period.
- Severe skin diseases: bacterial, fungal or viral in nature. Excessive acne. Warts and all skin diseases must be cured prior to medical exam.
- Leprosy in any forms
- Tattoo/hypertropic tattoo scars causing disfigurement, extensive keloid scars specially in the facial area.
- Gross physical deformity asymetry whether congenital due to trauma or disease including extra or missing appendages (i.e. fingers)
- Errors of refraction of eyes: near-sighted, far-sighted, astigmatism, cross-eyed and other ocular disorders.
- Visual Acuity of >30/20 OU
- Wearing contact lenses and eyeglasses
- Color blindness/defective color perception (Ishihara- perfect for BSMT and 2 mistakes for BSME)
- Deafness/perforated eardrum
- Severe or chronic otitis media
- Impacted cerumen (must be removed prior to medical exam)
- Chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps
- Hypertension, abnormal ECG tracings (e.g AV blocks, bundle branch blocks, ischemia, infarctions, arrhythmia tachycardia, bradycardia, etc.), heart abnormalities and diseases.
- Active PTB, massive pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary infarctions, pneumonitis, bronchopneumonia, atelectasis and other lung diseases.
- History of Asthma
- Lymphadenopathy
- Epilepsy, seizures, syncope and vertigo
- Anemia and blood dyscracia
- Hyperthyroidism (goiter) Hypothyroidism
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Hepatitis B whether active or inactive
- Gallstones
- Chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, duodenal ulcers and other GIT problems
- History of major operations within the preceding 6 months
- External/internal hemorrhoids and fissures, fistula-in-ano
- Old or recent fractures wherein internal fixation plates, screws are left in place which may be easily subjected to trauma
- Sexually transmitted diseases i.e HIV, gonorrhea & non-gonoccocal urethritis & syphilis
- Hernia
- Renal diseases and stones
DENTAL:
- Cleft palate
- Malocclusion
- Class II
- Class III
- Lateral crossbite
- Open bite
- Tongue tied which may interfere with speech, breathing, swallowing and eating
- Missing of four anterior/posterior (front teeth/molar teeth)
- Complete upper or lower denture
- Impacted tooth/teeth
- Facial asymmetry
- Wearing of orthodontic brackets or any orthodontic appliances or prosthesis e.g. dental implants
