Down The Chimney

The Christmas season is fast approaching, and as the kids are getting older, the harder it is to explain to them things about Santa Claus.  Especially when it comes to the chimney and the fireplace issues.  I remember one time when we were watching a movie, my son begun asking why we didn't have a chimney and how Santa would be able to go inside our house.  I explained to him that chimneys are intended for fireplaces, since we don't have winter or very cold weather in our country, we don't pretty much need a fireplace and that Santa would definitely find a way to get inside our house.  But despite of me explaining to him everything, he still insisted that we should have one in our house.

So to cut the conversation short, I promised him that if we move someday to somewhere cold, we will definitely have one, and I intend to keep my word.  So I started to look for information in the net to give me some idea of the trouble I got myself into and I found this website.  They had different price range and discounts for their fireplace, it's accessories and furnish.  And by the looks of it, I know it's not that cheap but the cost of construction is manageable.  At least by now, I already have some hints of what are the things to expect and base my decisions upon.

Though it's still wasn't sure if we will be able to transfer in a colder region, whether it's in our country or in a foreign land, but if ever that time comes, God willing, I 'm keeping my promise.  I just hope that it'll be the real Santa going down that chimney or he'll be toasted before he reaches the fireplace... LOL. Yahweh bless.

  1. lol. I get the same questions but it's about our woodburning stove; how fat santa can fit down the tiny pipe!

  2. I'm in a cold region but doesn't have a fireplace. But like you, if ever we get the chance to transfer to another house I'd choose the one which has a fireplace so we can save from heat. It really cost a lot.

  6. When I was a kid, I caught my dad placing candy on my socks and he just told me that santa was busy so he requested him to place it there and I believed it. => It would be real nice to have a chimney in the house especially in my hometown Baguio.

  7. This is true, even my two daughters ask me about that. Well my only answer is, we are living in the Philippines that is why there is no chimney here.

  8. I know some people who do have a fireplace at their homes; instead of a real fire, it's just an animated decoration thing but the important part was that it was a great display mantelpiece. I'll remember to take a photo next time I go there.

Anyway, just giving you an idea... :)

  10. For the sake of having the chimney, you can still have it constructed with your house here in the Philippines but with a twist - make it as an exhaust for air or smoke coming from your kitchen.

  11. We never had a chimney but my children still believe in Sta. Claus. They're always worried that Santa won't fit in their room's windows because of the grills...

  16. Maybe if I live in a place with a constant cold weather, I'd probably get a beautiful chimney for my house. :p

  17. Lol. And when you finally have the chimney, be prepared for your child's next question "How come santa never shows up? I waited for him every Christmas eve but no sign of him!"

  18. Thank God my nieces and nephews never asked about Santa and Chimney's. I doubt their parents would even know how to answer that. Glad that they're actually not that into Santa.. only on-hand gifts.

  19. It reminds me when I was kid and my dad told us that Santa would visit our house if we put the stockings near the window. so I bombard him with a lot of questions, at the end he told me he will be the one who give me the toys not Santa. :)

  21. My kids only knew Santa Claus in movies and they never dared to ask if he is real. Anyways, if they happen to ask me, I already have an answer for them just like what you've said to your son.

  22. Haha. Santa Claus in a fireplace. Well, we have these things in mind most of the time, not knowing that it might not be possible here in the PH. at kapag nagdrawing pa ng bahay noon, may chimney pa. LOLs
